Supporting the CGS Community at The Cathedral of All Souls, Biltmore Village, Asheville, NC

In the wake of intense flooding caused by Hurricane Helene in late September 2024, we learned of the devastating damage to the atria at The Cathedral of All Souls in Biltmore Village, Asheville, North Carolina.

One characteristic of CGS catechists is the strong bonds we form with each other in this work, both in our own community but also far beyond our geographic borders. Many of us in the Chicago area have known, worked and prayed with Micki Hill, the Dean’s Assistant for Children’s Formation at The Cathedral for decades, so we immediately began planning what we could do to help alleviate some of the burden faced by The Cathedral’s CGS community.

To help re-establish these atria, we will host a series of Material Making & Gathering sessions over the next few months where catechists can drop off extra materials from all levels of CGS in whatever stage of completion they are (raw to finished), and have the opportunity to stay a while to work with others on creating new replacement materials also. You can indicate your interest in one of these sessions here.

If you aren’t able to join a session or do not have extras to give, you can also donate here to help offset the cost of raw materials. Lake Michigan Catechists, Inc., the parent organization of Tina’s Center, is a 501(c)3 approved charity, and any funds donated above and beyond the cost of materials will be given directly to the CGS program at The Cathedral of All Souls to purchase replacement furnishings and other materials as needed.
